SSFP is part of the Leveling the Learning Landscape (L3) Improving Summer Academic Impact initiative which aims to foster early academic success, confidence, and belonging for undergraduate Stanford students. SSFP’s main goals are to provide students with (1) tools and resources to strengthen academic confidence in pursuit of their academic and career interests (2) early exposure to research opportunities, skills, and mentorship in a variety of disciplines (3) an affirming cohort community and network of support. By the end of the program, Fellows will be able to demonstrate growth in the following areas.

By the end of the program, Fellows will be able to demonstrate growth in the following areas.

Research Skills

Through hands-on experience and mentorship in a faculty-led research lab, Fellows will learn foundational research skills relevant to the discipline in which their project is situated Fellows will create a research-style poster to demonstrate what they have learned.

Academic Pathways & Critical Thinking

Fellows will reflect on how research connects to their academic interests, future goals, and values. Fellows will also be able to identify topics and consider fields they want to continue to explore related to their majors, co-curricular activities, and careers going into their sophomore year.

Community-building

By the end of SSFP, Fellows will have developed a network of support including peers, undergraduate mentors, instructors, staff, and faculty. Fellows will also have the tools to better navigate and access future research opportunities and academic resources.
